Hello!

Hello All,

I'd like to introduce myself and to say I'm glad to have found this site, it's high time there was one like it! :D

I've been involved in the electrical industry since leaving school in 1978, though my interest in electrical matters goes much farther back than that.

I own and run a small contracting company and for many years have been hoarding redundant industrial and domestic installation items and fittings that we've removed in the course of our day to day work, I now have quite a collection stretching back to the '20s, with a few even earlier items.

I also have a large collection of textbooks from 1880 to the present day.

I Hope to find the time to post some pics of some of my collection and get involved in the Forum.

Regards to all

David

Crikey, I thought I was the only one who collects this stuff, when I worked for an electrician I used to take loads home. Now I just collect it when I see items at sales or in scrap-skips.
When I put my collection in storage a couple of years ago, I moved over 3/4 of a ton of switchgear, plugs etc. now I think my collection will come in around 1 1/2 tons of stuff.

Nice to know someone else is also saving these items from being lost forever. The switchboard you have is in nice condition, better than the one I own.
Please post more pictures of your collection if you are willing to.

Thanks Memette,

I will post more pics when time allows. Sounds like you have a huge collection, I've looked at some of your pics, very interesting. I'm really glad that people like us are saving some of our manufacturing heritage-this part of it has been neglected for many years, sadly it's to late for much of the early gear which went before our time.

Regards,

David
