The Lounge

Sit back and enjoy some music, watch TV, or just be dazzled by the performance of some of our entertainment electronics.

What's in store?

Since the birth of broadcasting in the 1920s, electronic devices have played a key role in audio-visual entertainment and communication. For the first few decades, the radio was often the only piece of electronic equipment a family would have in their home. In time, as electronic products became more affordable, the electric record player superseded the wind-up gramophone and the TV grew in popularity. Stepping stones along the way to the multimedia world of today include the introduction of stereo sound for both radio broadcasting and records, the replacement of monochrome TV with colour, the advent of home recording of sound and pictures and the eventual dominance of digital technologies over analogue.
